Speaking at the State House in Abuja while hosting a high-powered delegation of Northeast political leaders, traditional rulers, and elder statesmen led by Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, President Tinubu attributed the emerging economic stabilization to the strong backing and operational alignment of sub-national governments across the federation.
The presidential host commended state governors for their fiscal alignment and urged regional leaders to deepen public engagement so citizens fully understand and participate in the country’s growth trajectory.
Acknowledging the severe security and socioeconomic challenges that have historically confronted the region, President Tinubu praised the united front displayed by Northeast stakeholders in combating terrorism and banditry.
He emphasized that social welfare and fiscal discipline remain top priorities of his administration, noting ongoing efforts to clear outstanding pension liabilities left by past privatizations while building a resilient framework for national prosperity.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Governor Babagana Zulum explained that the solidarity visit served to express the region’s gratitude to President Tinubu for re-nominating Vice President Kashim Shettima as his official running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
Governor Zulum reaffirmed the Northeast’s total commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, highlighting major federal infrastructure projects underway in the region, including the construction of the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe-Biu-Maiduguri dual carriage expressway and expanded rehabilitation programs for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
