A high-powered delegation of the Enugu State Tripartite Committee—comprising leadership from the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), and key development stakeholders—has lauded the Nkanu West Local Government Council for its exceptional track record in project execution and commitment to grassroots development.
Led jointly by the Chairman of the NUJ Enugu State Council, Mr. Obinna Ogbuka; the Chairman of the NLC Enugu State Chapter, Comrade Fabian Nwigbo; and the Chairman of Enugu CSOs, Mr. Onyebuchi Igboke, the delegation conducted an extensive on-the-spot inspection tour across multiple council wards as part of its ongoing statewide assessment of local government performance.
Assessing completed and ongoing physical infrastructure projects executed under the administration of the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West Local Government Area, Hon. John Ogbodo, the committee expressed deep satisfaction with both the technical quality and community-level impact of the interventions.
Speaking on behalf of the oversight team, NUJ Chairman Mr. Obinna Ogbuka revealed that having evaluated over ten local government areas across Enugu State, Nkanu West consistently emerged as one of the most outstanding councils visited.
Ogbuka commended Hon. Ogbodo’s dedication to public service delivery, noting that the council’s aggressive development footprint has delivered tangible democratic dividends to rural populations.
In his official response, the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West, Hon. John Ogbodo, expressed appreciation to the delegation for their objective evaluation, attributing his administration’s operational successes to the enabling governance environment created by the Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr. Peter Mbah.
Hon. Ogbodo emphasized that the rapid transformation achieved across Nkanu West stems directly from Governor Mbah’s visionary leadership and disruptive local governance model, which has empowered local councils with resources and autonomy to deliver high-impact infrastructure.
