President Bola Tinubu has approved 26 major federal appointments across 10 strategic government agencies and commissions, naming former Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose and other key leaders to steer national governance.
In a decisive move to strengthen administrative capacity and accelerate institutional productivity across key sectors of the economy, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced 26 high-profile federal appointments spanning ten major ministries, agencies, and commissions.
The sweeping governance shuffle sees former Ekiti State Governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose, emerging as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), while retired Major General Junaid Bindawa takes charge as the Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.
Released via an official executive communication from the Presidency, the strategic redeployments and fresh executive picks are structured to bolster public service delivery, refine fiscal alignment, and inject veteran expertise into critical federal parastatals, with all leadership changes taking immediate effect.
Under the reconstituted governing framework of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), former Governor Ayo Fayose will provide leadership alongside newly designated non-executive board members Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta.
They join the incumbent Director-General of the agency, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, together with three previously appointed executive directors, to form a comprehensive governing council aimed at expanding electricity access across underserved rural communities nationwide.
Concurrently, the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission received a major structural overhaul, led by Major General Bindawa as Chairman and former Lagos lawmaker Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas assuming office as Secretary.
The commission’s reconstituted leadership also introduces three state-representative commissioners – Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian representing Benue State, Oladele Olatubosun representing Oyo State, and Yakubu Umar Barde representing Kaduna State – supported by four regional board members comprising Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo), and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
Demonstrating a commitment to cross-agency administrative mobility, President Tinubu redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju – who previously served as the Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) – to assume duty as the Secretary of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
In key chief executive selections across economic and scientific sectors, Dr. Abuh Mohammed has been appointed as the Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), while Dr. Akinola Odeyemi takes over as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) Plc.
Additionally, Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin steps into the role of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC), while former local government council chairman, Engineer Julius Oloro, becomes the new Chief Executive Officer of the Kwara-based National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), filling the vacancy left by the late Dr. A.R. Kamal, who passed away last January.
The administrative restructuring further saw the full inauguration of the governing board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), chaired by Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu.
He will lead a seven-member executive council including Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola to enhance fiscal discipline and revenue transparency across government bodies.
Meanwhile, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru steps in as the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, filling the post vacated by Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu following his reassignment to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) earlier in April.
To round off the comprehensive appointments, President Tinubu named Gisaor Vincent Iorja – an accomplished economist, legal scholar, and current Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) – as the new Executive Director of Finance at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), filling the seat created by Mathias Byuan’s resignation to contest the Benue State gubernatorial election.
