Enugu State Governor Dr. Peter Mbah launches a landmark educational reform by distributing free school uniforms to pupils enrolled in the state’s newly established, technologically advanced Smart Schools.

In a major step toward standardizing basic education across the state, Enugu State Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has commenced the distribution of school uniforms to pupils enrolled in the state’s newly established Smart Schools.

In Nkanu West Local Government Area, the distribution exercise was spearheaded by the Executive Chairman of the LGA, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo, who represented Governor Mbah during a ceremony at the Amuri Smart School campus. The distribution is part of a broader, statewide educational reform policy spearheaded by the Mbah administration.

Driving the “Smart School” Vision

The uniform distribution is designed to complement Governor Mbah’s signature educational initiative: the construction and equipping of 260 modern Smart Schools – one in each political ward of Enugu State. These institutions are built to integrate digital learning, modern curricula, and world-class facilities into basic education.

Representing the Governor, Hon. Ogbodo praised Dr. Mbah’s aggressive investment in the state’s educational infrastructure, characterizing the Smart School project as a highly transformative agenda.

“This initiative is completely redefining basic education in Enugu,” Ogbodo stated. “By investing heavily in these centers, Governor Mbah is ensuring our children are not just learning, but are actively being prepared to compete in a modern, digital world.”

Ogbodo urged the teaching staff at the Amuri campus to match the Governor’s structural investments with equal professional dedication. He challenged educators to uphold rigorous academic standards, while encouraging the students to remain disciplined and focused on their studies.

The collaborative effort between the state and local government has drawn strong support from community leaders, who highlighted the synergy between Governor Mbah’s vision and Chairman Ogbodo’s local administration.

Speaking at the event, the traditional ruler of the community, HRH Igwe Charles Egbonwaonye, expressed immense gratitude to Governor Mbah. Pointing to the “Amuri Campus” signage, the royal father noted that the high-standard environment should inspire pupils to view themselves as future leaders.

The event also highlighted successful public-private collaboration. Chief Amaechi John Onwe funded the procurement of the distributed uniforms. Represented by his son, Chukwuebuka Onwe, Chief Onwe commended Governor Mbah’s developmental strides while explicitly praising Chairman Ogbodo for his performance in effectively delivering democratic dividends and state policies to the grassroots level in Nkanu West.

Hon. Ogbodo reassured the community that the local government would continue to work hand-in-hand with the state administration to guarantee that Nkanu West’s Smart Schools receive the ongoing resources, security, and maintenance required to remain world-class centers of learning.
