Sokoto State has named a newly constructed road after Defence Minister, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, in recognition of his contributions to the state and Nigeria, with the minister describing the honour as a motivation for greater national service.

The Sokoto State Government has named a newly constructed road after the Minister of Defence, retired General Christopher Musa, in recognition of his contributions to the development of the state and the nation.

The announcement was made on Wednesday during the inauguration of the road by the Defence Minister, shortly after he received 62 armoured vehicles and 300 motorcycles donated by the Sokoto State Government to security agencies operating in the state.

Speaking at the event, Governor Ahmad Aliyu said the honour was in appreciation of Musa’s longstanding ties to Sokoto and his contributions to the state’s development.

According to the governor, the Defence Minister was born, raised and educated in Sokoto and has consistently identified with the state throughout his career.

Aliyu noted that Musa has made significant contributions to his alma mater and has continued to support various developmental initiatives within the state.

“We acknowledge his patriotism, selfless service and dedication to national development,” the governor said.

Responding, General Musa expressed gratitude to the Sokoto State Government for the recognition, describing it as a memorable honour that would remain part of his legacy.

He said the gesture would serve as a historic reference for future generations and inspire him to remain committed to serving the country.

The Defence Minister also called on Nigerians to continue supporting government efforts to combat banditry, terrorism and other security challenges facing the nation, stressing that collective cooperation remains essential to restoring lasting peace and security.
