President Bola Tinubu will address Nigerians at 7:00 a.m. today, June 12, via a live nationwide television and radio broadcast to commemorate Democracy Day.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will deliver a highly anticipated nationwide live broadcast to the federation today, Friday, June 12, 2026, in solemn commemoration of Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
The special anniversary broadcast is officially scheduled to hit the airwaves at 7:00 a.m. precisely.
A formal administrative circular issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, directed all federal, state, and private electronic media networks to make necessary structural adjustments to hook up with the state broadcast.
The presidential address will be aired live on the flagship networks of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).
“All television and radio stations are requested to link up with the broadcast,” the State House directive explicitly mandated.
The June 12 Democracy Day broadcast carries immense national significance as it marks the anniversary of the historic June 12, 1993, presidential election – a day universally recognized as the foundational pillar of Nigeria’s modern democratic journey.
Political analysts anticipate that President Tinubu’s speech will heavily touch on critical national milestones, including the administration’s ongoing macro-economic stabilization initiatives, security infrastructure achievements, and structural updates on public welfare programs.
State House correspondents report that the President will use the national platform to reaffirm his administration’s unwavering commitment to reinforcing the rule of law, protecting constitutional liberties, and building an inclusive economy that cushions inflationary pressures for all Nigerian citizens.
Following the early morning broadcast, various state governors across the federation are also expected to lead regional rallies, town hall dialogues, and cultural exhibitions to celebrate 27 continuous years of unbroken civilian rule in Africa’s largest democracy.
