Clamping down on the sabotage of public infrastructure, the Kano State NSCDC command arrests a 10-man syndicate specializing in the theft of high-voltage aluminum conductors.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested 10 suspects for their alleged involvement in the systemic theft and destruction of public infrastructure.
The State Commandant of the corps, Mohammed Hassan-Agalama, disclosed this on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, while parading the criminal suspects before journalists at the command’s headquarters in Kano. Hassan-Agalama stated that the tactical crack team tracked down the specialized network of vandals during coordinated operations across multiple high-risk locations within the state.
The state chief security officer listed the areas targeted by the suspects to include Gwarmai in Ghari Local Government Area, the Challawa Industrial Area, Unguwar Rimi, and Waratallawa in Kumbotso Local Government Area.
The group is currently facing a multi-count charge including infrastructure vandalism, economic sabotage, criminal conspiracy, illegal trespass, and the unlawful receiving of stolen properties.
The command recovered an assortment of stolen public properties and tactical weapons from the syndicates, including 200 meters of high-tension aluminum conductor cables, industrial copper wiring, multiple mobile handsets, and power banks.
Operatives also recovered dangerous close-quarter weapons, including local swords, cutlasses, knives, and scissors used by the suspect to threaten local security guards during their night operations.
Commandant Hassan-Agalama confirmed that comprehensive preliminary investigations into the activities of the ring have been concluded, adding that the suspects will soon be arraigned in a court of competent jurisdiction.
Reaffirming the corps’ core mandate, he emphasized that the NSCDC maintains a zero-tolerance policy for criminal elements targeting national assets. He called on Kano residents to continually support the command by volunteering credible, real-time intelligence to help security agencies eliminate economic vandals across the state.
