Driven by family considerations and political equity, Mascot Uzor Kalu withdraws from the Abia State APC gubernatorial race, paving a smooth path for other aspirants.
Sir Mascot Uzor Kalu has formally announced his voluntary decision to step down from the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary election in Abia State.
In an official statement released to his numerous supporters, party faithful, and the general public, the former Abia State Chief of Staff explained that his choice to withdraw followed a period of extensive, wide-ranging consultations with his immediate family members, close friends, and key political stakeholders across the state.
While admitting that the choice was highly difficult given the momentum of his campaign, Kalu stated that his decision is firmly premised on two major altruistic and structural reasons designed to promote internal democracy and equity within the ruling party.
First, the frontline politician pointed out that because his elder brother, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has already successfully clinched the senatorial ticket of the APC for Abia North, it is only fair that he withdraws to prevent an unfair concentration of power and allow other competent aspirants the opportunity to exercise their fundamental right to contest for the highest office in the state.
Secondly, he revealed that following thorough deliberation with party elders, a collective consensus was reached that, in the interest of justice and regional fairness, Abia Central should be allowed to seamlessly complete its ongoing eight-year cycle of power rotation.
Expressing his deep gratitude, Mascot Uzor Kalu thanked his wife, children, and his mother for their unwavering emotional strength, while extending special appreciation to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Representative Nnanna Uzor Kalu, and his dedicated campaign organization led by Reverend Chuks Alozie, Samuel Nwachukwu, and Ifeanyi Adijeh for their unalloyed loyalty and tireless dedication throughout the political journey.
