The APC House of Representatives primaries in Borno State produced winners across nine federal constituencies, with Dr. Kaumi Zulum, brother of Governor Babagana Zulum, securing the Dikwa, Konduga and Mafa ticket unopposed, while one constituency remained inconclusive.

Maiduguri – Dr. Kaumi Zulum, brother of Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the House of Representatives seat representing Dikwa, Konduga and Mafa Federal Constituency after securing victory in the party’s primary election.

The result was announced on Sunday in Maiduguri by the Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee and Returning Officer, Prophet Jones Erue, who said Kaumi Zulum emerged unopposed during the exercise.

Erue also declared several other candidates winners of the APC House of Representatives primaries conducted across Borno State.

According to him, Fati Alkali emerged as the APC candidate for the Mobbar, Guzamala, Abadam and Kukawa Federal Constituency, while Usman Zana secured the party’s ticket for Magumeri, Kaga and Gubio Federal Constituency.

Ahmed Jaha was declared winner of the Gwoza, Chibok and Damboa Federal Constituency primary, while Satomi Ahmed clinched the APC ticket for Jere Federal Constituency.

For the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council Federal Constituency, Abdulkadir Rahis was returned as the party’s candidate after polling 38,576 votes during the primary election.

Mustapha Abdullahi also emerged victorious in the Bama, Ngala and Kala Balge Federal Constituency contest with 20,509 votes.

However, the APC primary election for Askira, Uba and Hawul Federal Constituency was declared inconclusive.

Erue explained that the decision followed a complaint lodged by one of the aspirants, Audu Zali, prompting the committee to suspend the declaration of results pending the report of the Appeals Committee.

He said the House of Representatives primaries were successfully concluded in nine out of the 10 federal constituencies in Borno State, describing the exercise as peaceful, transparent and orderly.

The returning officer commended party members for demonstrating unity, discipline and commitment throughout the process.

Erue stated that the committee conducted the exercise in compliance with Sections 84, 86 and 87 of the Electoral Act, relevant provisions of the APC constitution and approved party guidelines.

He noted that most candidates emerged through affirmation and consensus arrangements adopted by stakeholders and delegates without disputes or objections, particularly in constituencies with unopposed aspirants.

According to him, direct primary elections were held in only two constituencies – Bama, Ngala and Kala Balge, as well as Maiduguri Metropolitan Council.

He added that the overall process was widely judged to be free, fair, credible and acceptable to party stakeholders.
