The Council of Presidents-General in Enugu State has endorsed Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Tinubu for re-election, praising ongoing reforms, infrastructure projects and grassroots development initiatives.
The Enugu State Council of Presidents-General has endorsed the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, for a second term in office, citing what it described as his transformational leadership and massive developmental strides across the state.
The council, which represents 583 autonomous communities across the state, also endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election, commending his administration for policies and projects they said had positively impacted the state and the South East region.
The endorsements were announced during a courtesy visit to Governor Mbah at the Government House in Enugu on Thursday.
Speaking during the event, the Chairman of the association, Arinze Ogbodo, praised Mbah’s grassroots-focused governance style and inclusive development approach.
According to him, the administration’s decision to use the state’s 260 political wards as the basis for distributing projects and democratic dividends demonstrated fairness and strategic planning.
Ogbodo highlighted several projects undertaken by the administration, including the construction of 267 Smart Green Schools, 260 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres and 260 Farm Estates.
He also commended the government’s investment in high-tech security infrastructure, rehabilitation of moribund assets and ongoing road projects connecting rural communities.
“Consequently, the Enugu State Council of Presidents-General of Town Unions, on behalf of the 583 autonomous communities in Enugu State, unanimously adopts you for a second term in office as the Governor of Enugu State in recognition of your outstanding performance, transformational leadership, and unwavering commitment to the development of Enugu State,” Ogbodo stated.
“In the same vein, we equally hereby adopt President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office,” he added.
The council further pledged to mobilise grassroots support for both leaders through its network spanning senatorial zones, local government areas and communities.
Responding, Governor Mbah thanked the community leaders for the endorsement and assured them that his administration would intensify efforts to reposition the state economically and socially.
According to him, the endorsement placed greater responsibility on his administration to complete ongoing reforms and developmental projects.
“What this endorsement has done is that you have imposed further obligations on us. You told us to go and finish this job,” Mbah said.
The governor explained that his administration’s projects in education, healthcare, agriculture, transport, tourism, security and infrastructure were all interconnected components of a broader economic strategy aimed at growing Enugu’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion by 2031.
“But even with just building these fundamentals and the foundations, you can see that the profile of Enugu is rising daily. Enugu has become a model of good governance,” he stated.
“This is beyond politics. What you are saying to us this afternoon is that you cannot politicise the future of our children,” the governor added.
