The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a domestic staff member allegedly involved in the murder of his employer, a Pentecostal bishop based in Asaba, Delta State, and the attempted sale of the victim’s Toyota Prado SUV in Nkpor.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu, disclosed this on Tuesday while confirming the arrest of the suspect and another individual allegedly involved in purchasing the stolen vehicle.
According to the police command, the breakthrough followed a swift intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, who reportedly served as the bishop’s driver and domestic staff, allegedly conspired with other unidentified criminal elements to murder the cleric before fleeing with the victim’s Toyota Prado SUV to Anambra State for sale.
Police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, tracked and intercepted the suspects in Nkpor, where the stolen vehicle was recovered.
The suspects were subsequently taken into custody for further interrogation.
The police said investigations were ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal gang allegedly connected to the incident and unravel the full circumstances surrounding the killing.
Reacting to the development, CP Ikioye Orutugu advised residents to exercise caution and carry out proper background checks before employing domestic workers, drivers and other household staff.
He urged members of the public to properly profile and verify the identities of persons employed in their homes and businesses while remaining alert to suspicious behaviour and activities.
The Commissioner further assured residents that the Anambra State Police Command remained committed to proactive policing, intelligence-driven operations and collaboration with other security agencies to safeguard lives and property across the state.
