The Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has confirmed the successful airlift of all 1,138 intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, following the departure of the final flight from Bauchi.

The Plateau State Government has announced the successful completion of the airlift of 1,138 intending pilgrims from the state to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj exercise. The Executive Secretary of the Plateau Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alh. Daiyabu Dauda, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday in Jos, marking a significant milestone in the state’s seasonal religious operations.

According to Dauda, the final batch of pilgrims departed from the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport in Bauchi via a chartered flight directly to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He noted that the board, in close collaboration with relevant agencies and stakeholders, had put in place comprehensive arrangements to ensure that the entire transportation phase of the exercise remained hitch-free and efficient.

The Executive Secretary expressed his gratitude to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, praising his administration’s consistent support and commitment to the welfare of the pilgrims. Dauda emphasized that the Governor’s intervention was instrumental in streamlining the logistics required for such a large-scale international movement.

In his charge to the departing citizens, Dauda urged the pilgrims to remain law-abiding and to strictly adhere to the regulations of the Saudi authorities while in the Holy Land.

He further encouraged them to maintain a high level of spiritual consciousness, reminding them of the sacred nature of the Hajj pilgrimage and its significance as a pillar of their faith. With the completion of the airlift, the focus now shifts to the coordination of welfare services and spiritual guidance for the Plateau contingent during their stay in the Kingdom.
