Former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau has received his APC membership card in Kano, marking a notable political realignment in the state.

Former Kano State Governor, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, has officially received his APC membership card following his return to the All Progressives Congress.

Shekarau received the membership card on April 25, 2026, at his Giginyu constituency in Kano State.

He was accompanied by Kano State Governor Malam Abba Yusuf, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, and other party leaders.

Speaking shortly after receiving the card, Shekarau expressed appreciation for the support shown by party members.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to contributing to the growth of the APC in Kano State and beyond.

According to the former governor, the latest membership development reflects ongoing political realignments within Kano politics.

Shekarau’s return is widely seen as a significant moment in the political landscape of the North-West state, where he maintains a strong support base.

With his move back to the APC, the former governor is expected to align politically with former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

The emerging alliance is expected to reshape future political contests in Kano, particularly following recent movements involving former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Kwankwaso had reportedly left the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while Governor Yusuf also moved from the NNPP to the APC.

Political observers believe Shekarau’s renewed membership in the ruling party could influence upcoming political strategies and party structures in Kano ahead of future elections.
