President Bola Tinubu has praised Governor Peter Mbah’s development record in Enugu, pledged faster work on the Port Harcourt-Enugu rail line, and received support for his 2027 re-election bid.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, for what he described as transformative leadership and rapid development strides in the state, saying leaders like him make the Nigeria of citizens’ dreams achievable.
The President made the remarks, Tuesday, while receiving an Enugu State delegation led by Governor Mbah at the Executive Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Tinubu also used the occasion to promise accelerated action on the Port Harcourt–Enugu rail line and other infrastructure projects aimed at boosting economic growth in the South East.
According to the President, Governor Mbah’s commitment, vision, and seriousness since assuming office have contributed meaningfully to democratic growth and development.
“Nigeria of our dream is achievable, and we will definitely build that together. We will not let you down. We will continue to work hard. It is not easy, but we are navigating the rough waterways. We will land this ship very well to steady Nigeria and bring prosperity to our economy”, Tinubu stated.
He said the future of Nigeria depends on leaders who are focused on service delivery and genuine progress.
Tinubu praised the pace of development in Enugu State and assured the governor of continued partnership between the federal and state governments.

The President also advised Mbah to remain focused and ignore distractions, saying progress often attracts criticism.
He expressed confidence that Nigeria would overcome current economic and governance challenges through teamwork and sustained reforms.
Tinubu added that national growth requires cooperation among federal, state, and local governments rather than individual effort.
In his remarks, Governor Mbah thanked the President for what he described as inclusive leadership that has positively impacted Enugu State.
He said Tinubu helped bridge a long-standing political gap between the South East and the federal government, especially through his visit to Enugu on January 4, 2025, to commission projects.
Mbah noted that several longstanding development challenges had begun to receive attention following that engagement.
He listed the concessioning of Akanu Ibiam International Airport as a major breakthrough, saying it has strengthened Enugu’s role as an international gateway for the South East.
The governor also praised the creation of the South East Development Commission and the extension of the gas pipeline to Enugu, which he said would unlock energy opportunities and support industrial growth.
Declaring political support, Mbah said “the people of Enugu State would stand with Tinubu during the January 2027 presidential election”.
He further commended ongoing federal works on the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway, Enugu–Onitsha Expressway, reconstruction of the New Artisan Bridge, and the Eke Obinagu flyover along the Enugu–Abakaliki Expressway.
Mbah also thanked the President for appointing Enugu indigenes into strategic national positions, including Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke as Chief of the Air Staff.
The delegation included senior government officials, former governors, former military administrators, lawmakers, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and academics.
