Crash tragedy struck Kano as FRSC confirmed two deaths and 20 injuries after a speeding trailer carrying passengers lost control at Wudil T-Junction.

KANO, Nigeria – A tragic road crash in Kano State has claimed the lives of two persons, left 20 others injured and eight unhurt, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The accident occurred at Wudil T-Junction along Maiduguri Road, Kano State.

The State Commander, Idris Muhammed-Lawan, disclosed the incident in a statement signed by the FRSC Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Labaran, on Saturday in Kano.

According to the statement, FRSC officials received a distress call at about 9:25 a.m. and arrived at the scene within 10 minutes.

The crash involved a DAF trailer loaded with goods and passengers travelling from Wudil Market en route to Lagos State.

Officials said the vehicle was carrying 30 male adult passengers at the time of the accident.

“Two persons died, 20 others sustained varying degrees of injuries, while eight were unhurt,” the statement said.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the driver lost control due to overspeeding while approaching the T-Junction before hitting another vehicle parked by the roadside.

Victims of the crash were evacuated to Wudil General Hospital for medical treatment.

Muhammed-Lawan expressed concern over the continued violation of road safety regulations, particularly the use of trailers to convey passengers.

He warned that overspeeding and overloading remain major causes of fatal road accidents across the country.

The FRSC commander urged drivers to comply strictly with traffic regulations and prioritise passenger safety at all times.

He also advised members of the public to avoid boarding trailers and other unsafe vehicles for transportation.
