President Bola Tinubu appoints Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu as PTDF Executive Secretary and renews Sule Abdulaziz’s tenure as TCN Managing Director.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu as Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund.

He replaces Ahmed Galadima Aminu, who resigned to contest the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State.

The President also renewed the appointment of Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria for a second and final term. Both appointments take immediate effect.

Professor Aliyu, described as a seasoned academic and administrator, is expected to strengthen capacity development in Nigeria’s petroleum sector. The appointment, according to the presidency, reflects commitment to enhancing human capital development, innovation and strategic support for the oil and gas industry.

Tinubu urged the new PTDF boss to reposition the organisation for greater impact in line with national priorities and the administration’s development agenda.

The renewal of Abdulaziz’s tenure followed an assessment of his performance overseeing the country’s transmission network. Under his leadership, TCN recorded improvements in grid stability, expansion of transmission capacity and system modernisation.

Abdulaziz, who has over three decades of experience in the power sector, has also supported regional electricity integration through his leadership role in the West African Power Pool.

The President urged both appointees to discharge their responsibilities with diligence, integrity and a strong sense of national service.
