Obafemi Awolowo University commends First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for donation of 50 buses and 30 tricycles, saying the initiative will ease campus transportation and improve student mobility.

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for the donation of 50 buses and 30 tricycles to the institution.

This was contained in a statement issued on Monday in Ile-Ife by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, who described the gesture as a demonstration of the First Lady’s commitment to student welfare and campus mobility.

The university noted that the donation to her alma mater would significantly ease transportation challenges within the campus and improve movement for students and staff.

Management also appreciated the Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi for his pivotal role in facilitating the delivery of the vehicles, acknowledging his continued support for educational development and student welfare.

According to the statement, the new buses and tricycles form part of efforts to enhance accessibility and improve overall campus transportation services.

However, the institution appealed to students and the university community for understanding over temporary operational challenges associated with the rollout of the transport system.

“As with any new system, this initiative is still a work in progress. Necessary adjustments, route optimisation, scheduling improvements and operational enhancements are actively being undertaken to ensure efficiency, safety and maximum benefit for all users.

“We assure our students that all concerns raised will be carefully reviewed and addressed in due course,” the statement said.
