Kano State Government has refuted reports that Governor Abba Yusuf snubbed Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, saying the governor delegated officials while attending a governors’ meeting in Lagos.
The Kano State Government has refuted reports alleging that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf snubbed Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II during the Hawan Nasarawa durbar procession held on the third day of Sallah celebrations.
This was contained in a statement issued on Monday in Kano by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa.
Dawakin-Tofa described the claim as baseless and aimed at creating tension between the state government and the Kano Emirate Council.
He explained that Yusuf had communicated with the Emir and mandated the Speaker and other senior government officials to receive him on his behalf, as he was attending a strategic governors’ meeting in Lagos.
“The Government wishes to state unequivocally that the claim is false, unfounded, and devoid of any factual basis. The report is misleading and deliberately concocted to misinform and create tension,” he said.
The spokesman added that the governor had earlier attended Eid prayers led by the Emir and had planned to receive other Emirs, but was unable to do so due to a schedule clash with the Lagos meeting.
He reiterated that the relationship between the Kano State Government and the Kano Emirate Council remained cordial and urged the public to disregard the report.
