Manchester City defeated Arsenal 2-0 in the EFL Cup final, with Nico O’Reilly scoring twice in the second half.

Manchester City claimed the first silverware of the English season after defeating Arsenal 2–0 in the English Football League (EFL) cup final on Sunday, currently known as the Carabao Cup.

Midfielder Nico O’Reilly scored two second-half headers to hand City victory after a goalless first half.

The breakthrough came on the hour mark when O’Reilly capitalised on a fumble by Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to head home.

He doubled the lead four minutes later, meeting a cross from Matheus Nunes to seal the win.

Manchester City, managed by Pep Guardiola, improved significantly after the interval and controlled proceedings.

Arsenal, who arrived as favourites, struggled to create clear chances and only hit the crossbar late in the game.

The victory secured Manchester City’s ninth League Cup title, while ending Arsenal’s hopes of winning their first trophy since 2020.

The result also brought an abrupt end to discussions of a potential quadruple for the North London side.
