The Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC) has officially presented a distribution licence to MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL), authorizing the company to distribute electricity within Enugu State after meeting all regulatory requirements.

The licence was formally presented by the Chairman of EERC, Chijioke Okonkwo, to the Managing Director of MEDL, Ernest Mupwaya, during a brief ceremony held at the commission’s corporate headquarters in Enugu.

The presentation marks a significant regulatory step aimed at strengthening electricity distribution and improving power sector operations in the state.

Also present at the event were representatives of the Board of Directors of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC), including Steve Dike and Kester Enwereonu, who attended alongside the Group Managing Director, Praveen Chorghade.

The issuance of the licence is expected to strengthen regulatory oversight while enhancing electricity distribution capacity within Enugu State’s evolving power sector framework.
