The Enugu State Police Command has recovered a truck reportedly snatched at gunpoint in Delta State, while intensifying efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday in Enugu by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe.

According to Ndukwe, operatives attached to the Awgu Division recovered the Sinotruk truck in the early hours of January 31 along Ndeagbor Road, Awgu community, in Awgu Local Government Area.

He said the recovery followed swift action on credible intelligence indicating that the truck had earlier been hijacked at gunpoint from its driver at Ugwuashi-Uku, Delta State, on January 29.

“The recovery followed the operatives’ swift response to an intelligence report that the truck had been snatched at gunpoint from its driver in Ugwuashi-Uku, Delta State,” Ndukwe said.

“On sighting the operatives, the criminal elements abandoned the truck and fled into a nearby forest.”

The police spokesperson said a manhunt for the suspects was ongoing, adding that the owner of the recovered vehicle had been identified and that investigations had commenced.

Ndukwe further disclosed that the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr. Mamman Giwa, had urged members of the public to promptly report criminal activities and suspicious movements to the police.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property, assuring residents of sustained efforts to curb crime across the state.
