The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee, backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has pledged to deliver an all-inclusive convention that will reflect the collective interests of party members nationwide.

The National Chairman of the caretaker committee, Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, made the pledge on Tuesday in Abuja after a meeting of the faction’s National Caretaker Committee (NCC).

Mohammed said the committee was operating strictly in line with the PDP constitution and relevant electoral laws to organise a convention that would accommodate all stakeholders.

According to him, the committee’s guiding principles remain inclusiveness, transparency and fairness, stressing that every PDP member would have a voice in determining the party’s future.

“We are working towards a peaceful and all-inclusive convention of our party. Members are following developments and can see that we are genuinely committed to repositioning the PDP,” Mohammed said.

He dismissed claims of division within the party, insisting that the PDP remained united under his leadership.

“The party remains united, committed to bringing its members together, and focused on forging ahead in preparation for future elections,” he added.

Mohammed recalled that the NCC had earlier fixed March 28 and March 29 for the party’s national convention in Abuja.

However, the Caretaker Committee Publicity Secretary, Mr. Jungudo Mohammed, while reading the communiqué issued after the meeting, announced a slight adjustment to the dates.

He said the convention would now hold from March 29 to March 30, following deliberations after the 105th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Monday.

“The adjustment was made after careful consideration of certain factors following the date earlier announced at the NEC meeting,” he said.

Jungudo Mohammed also disclosed that the NCC dissolved the North-West, South-West and Plateau zonal committees of the party.

He said caretaker committees would be constituted for the affected zones in due course.

According to him, the timetable earlier approved by NEC for ward, state and zonal congresses remains unchanged and will be implemented as scheduled.

“The National Caretaker Working Committee will consult widely before announcing the national convention planning committee,” he added.
