Indonesia’s free nutritious meal programme has so far reached more than 60 million beneficiaries, the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Mr. Zulkifli Hasan, has said.
Zulkifli disclosed this on Thursday, noting that the programme is currently supported by 22,091 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPGs) operating across the country.
“There are currently 22,091 SPPGs serving over 60 million beneficiaries,” he said, adding that the initiative continues to expand nationwide.
According to him, the number of SPPGs is projected to rise to 33,000 within the year, with particular emphasis on underdeveloped and vulnerable regions.
Meanwhile, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Mr. Airlangga Hartarto, said the Indonesian government has earmarked 335 trillion rupiah-approximately 20 billion U.S. dollars-for the programme in the 2026 fiscal year.
The allocation represents a significant increase from the 71 trillion rupiah budgeted for the initiative in the previous year.
Hartarto said the government aims to scale up the programme to cover 82.9 million beneficiaries, including students, pregnant and nursing mothers, and toddlers, as part of broader efforts to strengthen nutrition, food security, and human capital development.
