The Jigawa State Government has approved the sum of ₦2.6 billion for the conduct of the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The approval was announced by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Sagir Musa, while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held on Wednesday in Dutse.
According to Musa, the funds are intended to ensure seamless transportation and adequate welfare for intending pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
He explained that the approved amount would be deployed to critical aspects of the Hajj operation, including air transportation, accommodation, feeding, medical services, orientation programmes, and other necessary logistics.
“This is to ensure a hitch-free pilgrimage for all pilgrims from the state as they embark on the holy journey,” Musa said.
The commissioner reiterated the state government’s commitment to conducting a smooth and well-coordinated Hajj exercise in compliance with guidelines issued by Saudi authorities. He added that transparency and accountability would be strictly upheld in the utilisation of the funds.
Musa further disclosed that relevant agencies had been directed to work closely to guarantee that pilgrims are able to perform their religious obligations without undue hardship.
