The Enugu Sujimoto EFCC recovery came to public attention following the recovery of ₦1.27 billion by the Enugu State Government through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The development emerged from a viral video believed to have been circulated by Enugu Government House media.
In the video, the South East zone of the EFCC, Mr. Daniel Ise, is seen handing over a cheque representing the recovered sum to the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia. The presentation reportedly took place at the office of the EFCC Chairman, marking a significant moment in the Enugu Sujimoto EFCC recovery process.
Although no detailed explanation was provided in the footage, the EFCC recovery is widely believed to be linked to funds allegedly defrauded from the Enugu State Government by Sujimoto, reportedly in connection with the state’s Smart Schools project. However, this link has not yet been officially confirmed by either the EFCC or the state government.
During the handover, EFCC officials reportedly assured the Enugu State Government that the ₦1.28 billion represents only part of the funds under investigation, indicating that the Enugu Sujimoto EFCC recovery may involve additional sums as the probe continues.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the EFCC nor the Enugu State Government has issued a detailed public statement outlining the scope of the investigation, the specific project involved, or the total amount being pursued under the EFCC recovery. Authorities have indicated that more details will be released in due course.
