The Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State has arrested a 25 year-old man for allegedly operating an illegal clinic in Ore, Ore/Odigbo Local Government Area.

The arrest was confirmed on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, who said the suspect was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation by the command’s Surveillance Team.

According to Jimoh, the suspect, identified as Idris Nasiru, was found running a clinic without authorisation or medical certification.

“A search of his shop led to the recovery of injection needles, medical drips, bandages and assorted medical kits,” Jimoh said.

He added that further searches of the suspect’s residence, conducted with a duly signed warrant, uncovered used injection bottles, syringes and needles.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Nasiru is not a registered medical practitioner, confirming that the clinic was operating illegally.

Jimoh said the suspect has made useful statements and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The police spokesperson disclosed that the Commissioner of Police urged residents to provide credible information to help dismantle criminal medical networks across the state.

He also warned members of the public to be cautious when seeking medical services, stressing the dangers posed by unqualified practitioners.

Jimoh assured residents that the Ondo State Police Command remains committed to eradicating illegal medical practices and protecting public health.
