Shooting Stars Sports Club delivered an emphatic performance in Ibadan on Wednesday, defeating Enyimba FC 3–0 in their 2025/2026 Nigeria Professional Football League Matchday 26 fixture at the Lekan Salami Stadium.

The hosts took an early lead in the 16th minute when Luck Emmanuel calmly converted from the penalty spot after sustained pressure on the visitors’ defence.

“We stayed calm and took our chance,” Emmanuel said after opening the scoring.

Shooting Stars maintained control for most of the contest, limiting Enyimba’s attacking threat and dictating the tempo of play. In the 56th minute, head coach Nurudeen Aweroro made tactical changes, introducing Alex Aghaowa and Joshua Akpan to strengthen the team’s balance.

“The changes gave us better balance,” Aweroro explained.

The pressure eventually told in the 80th minute when Sodiq Ibrahim doubled the advantage, finishing off a well-worked move after several missed chances by the home side.

Further substitutions followed late in the game, with Emmanuel Ndubueze and Qamar Adegoke coming on in the 87th minute to sustain attacking momentum.

The strategy paid off as Adegoke sealed the victory in stoppage time, rounding off a dominant display by Shooting Stars.

“It was important to finish strongly,” Aweroro said.

With the victory, Shooting Stars move up to fourth place on the NPFL table with 32 points from 20 matches, trailing Rivers United, Abia Warriors, and Ikorodu City FC.
