The South-East chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged residents of the region to avoid splitting their votes among multiple political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, calling for unified support for the ruling party.

The appeal was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the APC South-East Stakeholders Meeting held on Saturday at the Presidential Hotel, Enugu.

Signed by key political stakeholders from the region, the communiqué called on sons and daughters of Igboland, both at home and in the diaspora, to rally behind the APC, describing it as the most viable platform for achieving the region’s political, economic and social aspirations.

The party warned that dispersing votes across several parties had historically weakened the South-East’s influence at the national level.

“We reject the scattering of votes across multiple parties, a practice that has consistently diminished our collective bargaining power,” the communiqué stated.

It added that the people of the South-East dissociated themselves from political activities driven by personal interests, regardless of the status of those involved.

According to the party, meaningful progress could not be achieved through narrow ambitions or actions that undermine collective unity.

The stakeholders resolved that personal ego would no longer determine the political destiny of the region, stressing that unity was essential for negotiating improved representation and protecting regional interests.

The communiqué said political, traditional and business leaders from the zone had agreed to support the APC as the most practical political choice, citing the policies of the APC-led Federal Government and the need for strategic alignment with the centre.

The party noted that alignment with the ruling party would enable the South-East to secure greater access to national resources, infrastructure development, federal appointments and economic opportunities.

The stakeholders pledged total and unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu as the APC’s sole presidential candidate in the 2027 elections.

They commended Tinubu’s administration for what they described as significant efforts to address long-standing infrastructural deficits in the South-East and for appointing sons and daughters of the region to key national positions.

The communiqué further expressed alignment with the leadership of the South-East Governors Forum and the Progressive Governors Forum.

The party pledged to mobilise all human, material and spiritual resources to deliver overwhelming bloc votes for President Tinubu across the five South-East states in 2027.

It added that voter education, registration drives and unity-building initiatives would be intensified to ensure what it described as an unprecedented electoral victory.
