The Lagos State Police Command has invited Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, over alleged multiple rape and other sexual offences.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday evening, January 5, 2026.
According to Adebisi, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations.
She disclosed that the suspect has been formally served with an invitation letter through his legal representative and is expected to cooperate fully with investigators at the SCID.
“He is expected to cooperate with the police as investigations into what have been described as capital offences and other serious crimes commence,” Adebisi stated.
The spokesperson added that CP Jimoh has ordered immediate and comprehensive security coverage for the alleged victims, while encouraging anyone affected to come forward and lodge formal complaints at the SCID.
She assured the public that the identities of victims and witnesses would be treated with strict confidentiality and that adequate protection would be provided throughout the investigation process.
Adebisi also appealed to members of the public with credible information or evidence related to the case to assist investigators by contacting the SCID directly or reaching out through the Police Public Relations Department of the Lagos State Police Command.
She emphasised that the investigation would be conducted professionally, transparently and without bias, in line with the provisions of the law.
The police spokesperson reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that all allegations of criminal conduct, regardless of the status of the individuals involved, are thoroughly and discreetly investigated.
