The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has boosted the morale of Nigerian Air Force troops by celebrating Christmas with frontline personnel across various operational theatres nationwide.
This was disclosed in a statement on Friday in Abuja by the Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
According to the statement, the Christmas Day engagements were designed to recognise the sacrifices of troops who remained on duty during the festive season and to strengthen their morale amid ongoing security operations.
Ejodame said the CAS personally interacted with frontline troops, commending their courage, professionalism and steadfast commitment to safeguarding the nation.
He noted that similar engagements were held simultaneously across key operational locations, including Kainji, Katsina, Maiduguri, Port Harcourt, Makurdi, Kaduna and Enugu, where goodwill messages were delivered and Christmas luncheons hosted for deployed personnel.
Speaking during the engagements, Aneke described the troops as the pride of the nation, stressing that their sacrifices ensured Nigerians could celebrate Christmas in peace and safety.
He said celebrating Christmas at the frontlines symbolised patriotism, duty and selfless service, adding that the dedication of the troops continued to inspire public confidence in national security efforts.
The CAS reaffirmed the importance of heightened vigilance during the festive period, assuring that the Nigerian Air Force remained resolute and fully committed to denying criminal elements any opportunity to exploit the season.
He also reiterated his command philosophy, emphasising that troop welfare remained central to operational success. Aneke assured personnel of sustained improvements in welfare, logistics, medical care and living conditions to enhance morale and combat readiness.
Ejodame added that the Christmas engagements were warmly received by the troops, who described the gesture as a significant morale booster and a clear indication that their sacrifices were appreciated at the highest levels of command.
