A key appointment was confirmed on November 17, 2025, as Gov. Umo Eno approved Mrs Elsie Peters as the new Head of Service in Akwa Ibom State, following the retirement of Mr Effiong Essien.

According to a statement released in Uyo by the Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, the appointment takes immediate effect and marks a major adjustment within the state’s civil service structure.

In a separate development linked to the ongoing administrative restructuring, Gov. Eno terminated the appointments of two aides. The affected individuals are Joseph Ikpak, Senior Special Assistant on Support Services, and Felix Ekuri, Special Assistant on Neighbourhood Watch.

Uwah explained in another statement that the removal of the aides and the new appointment are part of the administration’s realignment efforts to support the Renewed Hope and Arise Agenda of the state government.

The governor’s latest appointment highlights a broader effort to streamline government operations and enhance efficiency within the public service.
