The Anambra governorship election has been described as one of the most transparent and well-organised in the history of the state by Mr. Sly Ezeokenwa, National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Ezeokenwa commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a free, credible, and peaceful election that reflected the will of the people of Anambra.
Speaking in Awka on Sunday, shortly after the declaration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo as winner, the APGA chairman said the success of the election demonstrated progress in Nigeria’s democratic process.
He said, “The election held on November 8 was one of the most transparent and well-organised polls in the state’s history. INEC deserves commendation for ensuring fairness and openness throughout the process.”
INEC had declared Soludo, the candidate of APGA, winner of the Anambra election with 422,664 votes, ahead of Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 99,445 votes.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, made the announcement on Sunday at the commission’s headquarters in Awka.
Ezeokenwa also expressed appreciation to residents of Anambra and the media for their peaceful conduct and professionalism during the election period.
“I thank the good people of Anambra for their maturity and cooperation before, during, and after the election. Their behaviour has set a model for other states to emulate,” he added.
He further applauded the media for their balanced reporting and support in promoting transparency throughout the electoral process. Visit GMTNewsng for more news.
