Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has launched a blistering attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing it as the most corrupt, intolerant, and dishonest government in Nigeria’s history. In a wide-ranging interview with journalists in Katsina on Monday night, El-Rufai didn’t mince words in his assessment of the current leadership.

“This is the worst Federal Government in Nigerian history, and all the indices have shown it,” El-Rufai declared. “This is the most corrupt and most intolerant government in Nigeria,” he added, noting that the present administration has failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians since taking office in 2023.

The former Kaduna governor accused the Tinubu-led government of relying heavily on propaganda, particularly with regard to security. “This is the most lying government that depends on false propaganda,” he stated. “They lied that security has improved in Nigeria,” he continued, alleging that the government publishes false reports about killing notorious bandit leaders.

El-Rufai challenged the claims of improved security, saying major terrorist leaders remain active. “In Kaduna, Dogo Gide is still around, Mallam Abba, the Boko Haram terrorist is still alive. Bello Turji is still around,” he said. “But every day, they announce names of people that are bandits’ leaders that they have killed and claim security has improved.”

He further emphasized that insecurity persists across several northern states, including Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto. “How many local governments are under the occupation of bandits in Katsina State? How many are occupied by bandits in Zamfara State and some parts of Sokoto State?” he asked. “And because you are in government you think that nothing would happen?”

El-Rufai’s remarks came during a condolence visit to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State, following the death of Radda’s mother. During his visit, he used the opportunity to express concern over the nation’s worsening insecurity and what he described as the federal government’s lack of genuine solutions.

According to him, the root causes of insecurity are being ignored by those in power. “The insecurity in the country is due to the Federal Government’s failure to proffer deeper solutions,” El-Rufai said, stressing the need for a more comprehensive and long-term strategy.

In a final jab, El-Rufai voiced his support for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), which he now aligns with. He described it as a party with a “long history and credibility” that is poised to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections. GMTNewsng
