Governor Fubara Mourns Former Rivers Military Governor

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed profound shock and sorrow over the passing of Major-General Godwin Osagie Abbe (rtd), a former military governor of the state.
According to a press release dated Sunday, December 22, 2024, issued by Nelson Chukwudi, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the late Abbe, who hailed from Edo State, served as the military governor of Rivers State from August 1990 to January 1992.
Governor Fubara described the late General Abbe as a selfless leader who dedicated his tenure to the service and well-being of the people of Rivers State. He noted that the distinguished military officer, politician, and administrator’s demise was a significant loss to the state, the Niger Delta, and the entire nation, given his contributions across various spheres during his military and political careers.
“On behalf of my family, the government, and the good people of Rivers State, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Abbe family, the people of Edo State, and the Nigerian military on the passing of this colossus, whose contributions to the unity, peace, and development of our nation are truly remarkable,” the Governor said.
“While we mourn his painful departure, we pray for the eternal repose of his soul and urge his family to find solace in the knowledge that he lived a fulfilled life in service to his fatherland.” GMTNewsng
