APC consensus candidate for the position of State Chairman, Group Capt Joe Orji (Rtd.) has rejected the APC State Congress purported to have taken place on Saturday.
The former Gombe State Governor was adopted on Friday at a meeting of all the 3 zones of Enugu North, Enugu East and Enugu West chaired by the Caretaker Vice Chairman South East and former President of the Senate, Senator Ken Nnamani.
Group Captain Orji in a letter of protest addressed to the National Caretaker Chairman of APC Governor Mai Mala Buni, alleged that the Congress Committee led by its chairman Dr Ijomah refused to publish the list of delegates to the Congress, intentionally refused to advertise the venue of the Congress and also refused the accreditation of APC delegates that emerged at the Ward and Local Government Congresses in breach of the APC constitution.
He stated that “no Congress took place in the state” and accused the Congress Committee of coming to Enugu State with a “pre-ordained outcome dictated by their pay masters outside the State”.
He called on the National leadership of the party to intervene and ensure that the fraud perpetrated by the Dr Ijomah led Congress Committee does not stand.
He said that allowing what he called “Political brigandage” to prevail after years of crisis in Enugu State will put the final nail on the coffin of APC in the State.
Grp. Capt. Orji (Rtd.). also called on Senator Ken Nnamani who conducted the consensus agreement, as well as other major stakeholders to speak out against what he described as a sham, and correct the anomaly.
