The only female governor ever, in Nigeria and former governor of Anambra State, Her Excellency Dame Virgy Etiaba has described the passing onto glory of the duo of Mrs. Victoria Aguiyi Ironsi and Mrs. Adanma Okpara as shocking, and a huge loss to Nigeria.

Dame Etiaba who said that they were strong pillars that supported their late husbands, also noted their deaths happened when their wise counsel to the nation, especially the youth was most needed.

In a tribute to the families which was made available to GMTNews, Dame Etiaba prayed God to give the bereaved families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

She said “…The role both ladies played in ensuring that their husbands exhibited quintessential leadership in Nigeria remain (a) case study material till tomorrow.

“I pay this humble tribute to two of these distinguished ladies of this era; Lady Victoria Aguiyi Ironsi, and Lady Adanma Okpara.

“Without any shadow of a doubt, both lived fulfilled and graceful lives, proudly survived by their great children, grand children and great-grandchildren of note.

“Both distinguished ladies having left indelible footprints on the sands of time, have now left this world to eternity, in a blaze of glory. I pray therefore, that they have now found everlasting peace in the bosom of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. Amen,” she prayed.
