The Action Alliance, A A, governorship candidate for November 6 Anambra Guber polls, Chief Ben Etiaba has described the death of Ladies Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi and Adanma Opara as shocking, describing the duo as great matriarchs who held the forte for their families, decades after the death of the beloved husbands, late Nigeria Head of State, Gen Aguiyi Ironsi and Sir, Michael Iheonukara Opara (M. I. Power), Premier of the defunct Eastern Nigeria.

In separate condolence messages to the bereaved families, Chief Etiaba described their death as irreparable and great loss not only to their families, but Igbo land in particular and Nigeria in general.
To the Ironsis, Ben said “It was a sad one, a sad one indeed; the death of Mrs Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi, wife of late Nigerian Head of State, Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi.

“Mrs Aguiyi-Ironsi will forever be remembered and celebrated for the way she lived a dignified life, and for various selfless roles she played after the death of her beloved husband.
“She was a woman of peace and goodwill.
“My heartfelt condolence goes out to her family.
“This is a great loss to the entire Igbo nation and her legacy will forever be charised.
To the Okpara family, Chief Etiaba wrote:
“…Lady Adanma Okpara died in the early hours of August 22nd, 2021, it was reported.
“After many years following Dr M.I Okpara’s (M.I POWER) death, his ever loving wife Lady Adanma, gets to reunite with my hero, this time forever.
“Lady Adanma Okpara was always beside the late great legend ‘M.I Power’ at all times in the six years he brilliantly led the Eastern Region of Nigeria.
