Second in a month…
Abakaliki – Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State has announced the death of one of his top Commissioners, Engr. Fidelis Nweze kings.
Engr. Nweze was Commissioner for Infrastructure for Concessioning, and former Commissioner for works in Umahi’s first term.
Nweze died on Tuesday morning at the Turkish Hospital Abuja after he sustained injuries in an auto crash along Enugu – Abakaliki Highway.
He died barely one month after the state commissioner for housing, Mrs. Uchechi Okah passed on.
He was reported to have been attacked by unidentified gunmen two months ago while on inspection of the State’s ongoing airport project. He is reputed to be a trusted aide to gov. Umahi as he was the man behind the many infrastructural development recorded in Ebonyi State in the last six years.
Engr. Nweze whom a respondent described as “one of our finest commissioners,” hailed from Ezza South Local Government Area.
Meanwhile, Governor Umahi has directed that “all offices and markets should be closed while all flags are to fly at half mast on Wednesday, June 23rd 2021 across the State.”
Furthermore, he directed “all Government officials to proceed on fasting to seek the face of God in the affairs of the State while CAN is charged to organize prayers to break the fast by 4pm at Christian Ecumenical Centre every day, starting from Wednesday, June 23 to Saturday, June 26, 2021.”
