An accident involving a fuel tanker has occurred at Ekulu Bridge, Abakpa Nike in Enugu East local government area of Enugu State Saturday.
The fuel tanker which was said to have lost control according to an eye witness, fell into a ditch in the area, causing the death of one person.
In a reaction, the Executive Secretary of Enugu State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mrs. Nkechi Eneh, confirmed the incident.
She said SEMA team promptly responded to the distress call and employing some safety measures to prevent loss of more lives, and property in the area.
Mrs. Eneh stated that the state government provided a crane and manpower for the removal of the vehicle, evacuation of the product and reopening of the road for vehicular and human movements.
Caution should be applied by pedestrians and other road users to avoid further mishap.
