Two men were brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday over allegations involving the defilement of a 13 year-old girl in Lagos. The defendants, 69 year-old Samuel Aghono, described as a prophet, and 39 year-old hotelier Olayemi Oyinloye, both residents of Ijora Badia, were charged with conspiracy, defilement, and obstruction of justice.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on August 16 at a hotel in Amusu Street, Ijora Badia. The police said the child’s grandmother acted based on a message allegedly delivered by Aghono, who claimed the girl needed spiritual cleansing to avoid looming danger. She reportedly took the teenager to the hotel, where the first defendant asked her to leave and later administered a substance that weakened the girl before allegedly assaulting her.

The court also heard that Oyinloye obstructed police efforts to arrest Aghono, leading investigators to identify him as an accomplice. Both men pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor stated that the alleged offences violate sections 138, 252, and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015. Chief Magistrate M. F. Onamusi granted each defendant bail set at ₦300,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter until December 11 for mention.
