The Nigerian Army repelled attack attempts by ISWAP/JAS fighters on the Forward Operating Base in Miyanti, Bama Local Government Area of Borno, in one of several coordinated operations across the North East and North West.
A source at the Army Headquarters said the attack occurred in the early hours of November 18, prompting swift reinforcement from the 21 Special Armoured Brigade. Troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to retreat and allowing soldiers to fully re-secure the base.
The source added that in another operation, troops of the 192 Battalion and 26 Task Force Brigade responded to a distress call from farmers in Warabe and Sava-Dure communities in Gwoza Local Government Area. Their timely intervention disrupted terrorist activities and ensured safety in the affected farmlands.
He noted that troops continued their offensive posture under Operation Desert Sanity IV, maintaining stability across multiple sectors. These actions, he said, highlight the military’s enhanced capacity to counter threats and consistently deliver repelled attack outcomes against insurgent elements.
In the North West, troops under Operation FANSAN Yamma uncovered a newly established illegal mining site at Fatika junction along the Dogon Dawa–Old Kuyello road in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Soldiers also engaged three fleeing terrorists in Gobarawa and Nachibi, recovering two abandoned motorcycles in the process.
In Plateau State, troops under Operation Enduring Peace responded to an isolated killing in Riyom Local Government Area and rescued a driver abducted by armed robbers along the Bokkos–Barkin Ladi road. Search operations for the perpetrators are ongoing.
With multiple territories secured and several incidents of repelled attack successes across operational theatres, the military maintains steady pressure on criminal and insurgent networks nationwide.
