The people of Ndiagu Owo have cried out to the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, to use his good office, and avert disruption of the peace that have existed between them and their brothers for over 300 years, by stopping the alleged invasion of their ancestral land by one Igwe Okeke Arum, the traditional ruler of Mbulu Owo Autonomous Community and his supporters from Ashishi Owo, in Nkanu East Local Government Area of the state.
The appeal which is contained in a Press Release dated Friday, July 23, 2021, and made available to newsmen, also advised unsuspecting members of the public not to negotiate the purchase of any land belonging to Ndiagu Owo, as they have not empowered nobody or group of persons to sell any portion of their land on their behalf.
The release which was signed on behalf of Ndiagu Owo Development Union, by Michael Mbah, Eze Tochukwu Henry and Ogbu Kingsley Chukwudi, President, Secretary, and PRO, respectively, further alerted that the purported power of attorney in possession of the said traditional ruler is fake and not from Ndiagu Owo.
In the release, they said: “We the good people of Ndiagu Owo in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State hereby wish to alert the peace loving Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Government of Enugu State, and the general public of the invasion with a view to forcefully annex the ancestral land of Ndiagu Owo by HRH Igwe Okeke Arum of Mbulu Owo Autonomous Community and his cronies from Ashishi Owo with the intent to cause violence and bloodshed thereby jeopardizing the hard earned peace we enjoy for over 300 years in Owo town in particular, and Enugu State in general.
“We wish to state that there is no portion of land of Ndiagu Owo that is for sale.
“The public is further notified that the purported power of attorney being bandied by Igwe Okeke Arum in conjunction with some people from Ashishi Owo is fake and does not emanate from us the people of Ndiagu Owo.
“The general public is warned not to go into any form of land transaction with anyone in the name of Ndiagu Owo, especially trespassing beyond the Idodo River natural boundary between us and Mbulu Owo, as anyone who goes into such transaction does so at his or her own risk.
“We the people of Ndiagu Owo passionately appeal to His Excellency Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Governor of Enugu State, to stop the plan to forcefully take over our ancestral land by Igwe Okeke Arum and his criminal gang from Ashishi Owo.” The release concluded. (GMTNews)
