ENUGU, September 21, 2025 – The Anglican Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Rt. Rev. Samuel Ike, has called on Christian leaders across Nigeria to prioritize service, holiness, and humility in their spiritual and leadership responsibilities.
Bishop Ike gave the charge during the Grand Installation of the new executives of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), Southeast Zone, held on Saturday in Enugu. The inauguration was conducted by the CCN National President, Most Rev. David Onuoha.
The newly inaugurated executives are led by Territorial Envoy, Dr. Levi Monanu, with other members including Most Rev. Ibeawuchi Agu (Chairman), Rev. Steven Nlemchukwu (Secretary), Rev. Samuel Ibemere (Assistant Secretary), Dr. J.C. Agbo (Treasurer), Mr. Lewechi Ogwo (Financial Secretary), and Bishop James Igwe (Public Relations Officer), among others.
Speaking as the host bishop, Ike urged Christian leaders to emulate Christ by using their exalted offices to serve both God and humanity, while fostering unity among the faithful. He reminded them that “without holiness, no minister, no bishop, general overseer or reverend would see God,” urging them to shine as examples of truth and character.
He further cautioned church leaders against unhealthy comparisons, prosperity preaching, and fake miracles, stressing instead the need for patience, humility, and teamwork.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Monanu pledged that the Southeast leadership of CCN would promote programmes that strengthen love, equity, and harmony in society. He urged citizens of the region to fulfill their civic duties by registering to vote and electing credible leaders.
“With utmost reverence and humility, I accept this responsibility. Our mission is to unite in Christ, foster peace, and shape a society where faith inspires unity, unity sustains peace, and peace drives development,” Monanu declared.
He further emphasized breaking denominational barriers, promoting dialogue, reconciliation, and inclusiveness. According to him, the CCN Southeast will support visionary men and women of integrity while ensuring youth, women, and marginalized groups are carried along in faith and nation-building. GMTNewsng
