APC Chieftain Dr Ben Nwoye Lauds Senator-elect Kelvin Chukwu, says he represents much desired new vision for Enugu East District

All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain and immediate past national secretary of Forum of APC Chairmen Dr Ben Nwoye has said that the Senator elect for Enugu East Senatorial District Kelvin Chukwu will “bring a new dimension, focus and energy into legislative” business “in the Upper Chamber”.

Nwoye, a US trained Juris Doctor stated this today while reacting to the news that the defeated Senate candidates of All Progressive Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Princess Ada Ogbu and Dr Chimaroke Nnamani respectively, filed petitions at the Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Enugu challenging the electoral victory of Kelvin Chukwu of the Labour Party.

Dr Ben Nwoye who is also the immediate past Chairman of APC Enugu state, described Chukwu as “the first people’s senator in Enugu” East Senatorial District who “will represent both those who voted for him and those who opposed him”.

Dr Ben Nwoye

The legal expert is of the opinion that the judiciary has a potion of blame in the unfortunate process of our electoral system, as from time to time the apex court in the land “arrests the will of the people”. Reason those who clearly lost out in a transparent, free and fair election would still file petitions in an attempt to buy victory from the courts.

Dr Ben further said: “Our Distinguished Senator-elect will be sworn into office on the commencement of the 10th Senate after the Presidential Proclamation on June 13, 2023.

“He represents a new vision for the good people of Enugu State in general and Enugu East Senatorial District in particular. He will bring a new focus, new dimension and energy into legislative engineering in the Upper Chamber.

“He is the first People’s Senator in Enugu State. He will represent both those who voted for him and those who opposed him…”

Princess Ada Ogbu is the daughter of a late traditional ruler of Nara town in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State. She is married to another traditional ruler in Imo State but it seems she could not effectively manage her marital home as she has since relocated to her father’s home. She contested for the Senate seat of Enugu East District. Same with Dr Chimaroke Nnamani, a two term governor of Enugu State, two terms and incumbent Senator of Enugu East Senatorial District. They both lost in the election but each thinks the tribunal will award them victory.

When this was brought to the attention of Dr Nwoye, he had this to say, “Thank you for exposing the foolishness of a self-proclaimed High Princess dancing naked in the marketplace and the wickedness of a political King Nebuka… whose reign of terror was spiritually cut short.

“Ada is a 60 something year old woman who in her third go round was fortunate to marry a mid level Eze (King) in Imo State.

“She is an Ugo-Eze by virtue of her marriage to the Eze. She is supposed to be in her husband’s Palace in Imo State tending to the personal needs of her husband and her Imo State Community women.

“But no, she migrated herself back to Nara Kingdom where she proclaimed herself a High Princess in preparation for a failed Senate run. She even instigated a war in the Nara Palace between her younger brothers and the King, Igwe Ifeanyi Ogbu.

“So, her Electoral Tribunal journey will certainly end in shame same way her Senatorial ambition ended in shame despite spending over 80 million Naira of Imo State (government) money on billboards, photoshoots and make-up artists.

Chimaroke Nnamani (R) and Ada Ogbu

“She is just an actress who doesn’t know when to leave the stage until her stupidity is fully exposed and she is dragged down to the floor.

“As for Chima (Chimaroke Nnamani), the self acclaimed Mr. Know it All turned King Nebuka, his reign of terror has ended. His Tribunal matter is the last kick of a dieing horse.

“The King of Political manipulation was not prepared to leave the stage when the unthinkable happened to him.

“On the date he received the shocker of his life, he quickly issued a concession speech like a statesman he should be. He thanked the people of Enugu East Senatorial District and wished our Distinguished Senator-elect (Kelvin Chukwu) well. He also proclaimed that he has bowed out of politics.

“Shortly thereafter, he came back on the stage barking like a mad dog at the man who brought him out from political oblivion.

“He blamed everyone (except himself) for his disgraceful outing. Day in day out, the political King Nebuka was busy on his Twitter page cranking out insult for Governor Ugwuanyi, Nkanu West LGA Council Chairman, the Governor-elect and other notable politicians in Enugu East Senatorial District for not helping him rig himself back to the red chambers.

“As the days passed by, the Political King Nebuka couldn’t imagine his life without political portfolio. The traffic to his Agbani Palace has drastically reduced.

“There is exponential decrease in the number of praise singers. His hired thugs have shifted their loyalty to the New Sheriff in Town. His e-rats appeared to have taken e-poison and have remained dead silent.

“His political Kingdom has finally collapsed! So, in an attempt to resurrect his dead political structure, he ran to the Election Tribunal.

“The good thing is that he is contributing positively to the development of our electoral jurisprudence.

“His election petition is a well prepared academic piece which good law professors will use in the very near future to teach law students a course on “How not to Draft an Election Petition.”

“So, our Political King Nebuka took a hard fall. We have to pity him.

“It is the unfortunate process of our electoral system. Every looser goes to Court. Nobody accepts defeat. Nobody gives meaningful concession speech. From last position to second position all claim victory. All claim that their mandates were stolen. That’s because our electoral jurisprudence has not been fair to the electorates. From time to time the Supreme Court arrests the will of the people. So, everyone who contests election in Nigeria is a winner whether they come second, third or last. They are all winners.

“They all remember the Supreme Court decisions in Bayelsa, Imo and Zamfara. So, they think that thunder will keep striking on the same spot repeatedly. But, the good news here is that our God is bigger than their god.

“Our Distinguished Senator-elect is equal to the task. He has great legal team. Both Ada and Chima will be put to shame. Ada wants to be popular for the wrong reasons. She has failed to understand the difference between fame and notoriety. Time will help her understand.

“Chima on the other hand, has suffered National distress. The people of Enugu East have wholeheartedly rejected him. There is nothing more shameful than that. Let’s keep praying for the safety of our Distinguished Senator-elect as we get ready for his inauguration.

“In the fullness of time, the two losers who went to (the) Election Tribunal with frivolous allegations will be greeted with shame justice”, he concluded.

Kelvin Chukwu of the Labour party, on March 18, 2023, rescheduled Enugu East Senatorial election, polled 69,136 votes to defeat a two time governor of Enugu State and incumbent Senator for Enugu East District, Chimaroke Nnamani, expelled by the PDP but adamantly contested on the party’s platform who garnered 48,701 votes, while Ada Ogbu of APC came a distant third with a meager 8,548 votes. Ironically, both losers have approached the tribunal to attempt to ‘procure’ victory. GMTNews

Kano State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude

The Kano State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude, SAN, has formally taken over the prosecution of the alleged murder of a housewife and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Kano, pledging firm and transparent justice.

The tragic incident, which occurred on January 17, 2026, threw Kano State into shock after Fatima Abubakar, 35, and her six children were allegedly killed by three principal suspects currently in police custody.

Briefing journalists in Kano on Monday, Kabiru-Maude said the takeover followed a directive from Abba Kabir Yusuf, stressing that the government would not treat the case lightly.

“The Ministry of Justice has assumed responsibility for prosecuting this case to ensure justice is served. This heinous and inhuman act is a grave affront to humanity and the rule of law,” he said.

He assured residents that the prosecution would be handled with accountability, transparency and strict adherence to due process, adding that justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done.

The Attorney-General commended the Kano State Police Command for its swift and professional response, which led to the arrest of the suspects shortly after the incident.

He urged residents of Kano State to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding, and to continue supporting security agencies with credible information to aid investigations.

Kabiru-Maude added that the Ministry of Justice would issue further updates as investigation and prosecution of the murder case progressed.

FCTA Removes 607 Beggars From Abuja Streets

The FCTA has removed 607 beggars from Abuja streets since July 2025, intensifying efforts to restore security, order and the city’s status as Nigeria’s capital.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has removed 607 beggars and mentally challenged persons from the streets of Abuja between July 2025 and January 2026, as part of an aggressive security and sanitation drive.

The Head of Enforcement at the FCT Social Development Secretariat (SDS), Mrs Ukachi Adebayo, disclosed this in Abuja, stating that the operation was carried out by the Operation Sweep Abuja task force.

According to her, 583 of those removed were beggars, while 23 were mentally challenged individuals. She explained that all affected persons were counselled, profiled and repatriated to their states of origin through state liaison offices for rehabilitation.

Adebayo noted that although many of the beggars often return to the streets after evacuation, the operation remains continuous.

“The more we remove them, the more some of them resurface. But the operation will not stop,” she said, adding that insecurity in some states has pushed many beggars to seek refuge in Abuja.

Also speaking, the Acting Director of Social Welfare at SDS, Mrs Gloria Onwuka, revealed that begging in Abuja has become an organised activity, with syndicates transporting children from other states to beg and surrender proceeds to handlers.

She disclosed that several women arrested while begging with children were not their biological parents, describing the trend as exploitative and criminal.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the FCTA Command and Control Centre, Dr Peter Olumuji, said Operation Sweep Abuja was a joint security initiative involving all security agencies and FCT departments, established on the directive of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Olumuji said beggars pose security risks, serve as informants to criminals, deface the city and are sometimes victims of kidnapping and ritual activities.

He reaffirmed that the operation would continue to flush out beggars, miscreants and other criminal elements across the capital.

The crackdown follows a declaration by Minister Wike in October 2024, warning that Abuja must not degenerate into a “beggars’ city,” stressing that public safety and the image of the nation’s capital remain non-negotiable.

Gueye’s Extra-Time Stunner Delivers Senegal’s Second AFCON Crown

Gueye’s extra-time strike sealed Senegal’s second Africa Cup of Nations title, as the champions edged hosts Morocco 1–0 in a tense 2025 AFCON final in Rabat.

Senegal national football team secured their second Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title with a dramatic 1–0 extra-time victory over hosts Morocco national football team in the 2025 final in Rabat.

The defining moment arrived three minutes into extra time when Pape Gueye unleashed a powerful left-footed strike from the edge of the area to silence the home crowd and decide a tense contest.

Morocco had a late chance to settle the match in regulation time after VAR awarded a penalty, but Edouard Mendy produced a decisive save to deny Brahim Díaz.

Senegal started assertively, forcing early saves from Yassine Bounou against Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye. Morocco grew into the game before the break, with Nayef Aguerd narrowly missing a dangerous delivery from Abdessamad Ezzalzouli.

After halftime, the Atlas Lions increased the pressure, but Ayoub El Kaabi failed to convert from close range. Senegal remained dangerous on the counter, and Bounou was again called into action late to stop substitute Ibrahim Mbaye.

Extra time tilted Senegal’s way. A clever pass from Sadio Mané opened space for Gueye, who struck with composure and power. Morocco pressed for an equaliser, but Mendy and a disciplined back line held firm.

The victory confirms Senegal’s place among Africa’s elite, adding a second AFCON title built on organisation, resilience, and decisive moments.
