Vice-President Kashim Shettima has declared that President Bola Tinubu’s second term will usher in an era of harvest, prosperity and tangible benefits for Nigerians, following what he described as the successful implementation of the administration’s economic reforms.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has said that a second term for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will usher in an era of harvest, prosperity and tangible rewards for Nigerians.

Shettima made the declaration on Tuesday in Calabar during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said the most difficult phases of the economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration had been completed, creating a foundation for nationwide growth and prosperity.

According to him, the administration’s economic policies, although painful, were necessary to reposition the country and prepare it for sustainable development.

The vice-president assured Nigerians that the next phase of the administration would deliver tangible benefits in return for the sacrifices made by citizens.

He urged voters to support the re-election of Tinubu, Cross River Governor Bassey Otu and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections, describing them as leaders committed to fulfilling their promises.

“We are confident of this promise to deliver for this nation because we have already done the most difficult job of economic reset.

“None of the other options available has the capacity to move the needle of the economy.

“We have rescued the economy, and the road ahead is one of harvest. This second term is one of harvest for you and all Nigerians,” Shettima said.

He appealed to Nigerians to renew the mandate of Tinubu and himself for another term, while also seeking a fresh mandate for Otu and his deputy, Peter Odey.

Shettima described the relationship between the APC and Nigerians as an alliance built on progress, prosperity, opportunity and dignity.

He maintained that the people must remain the central focus of government policies and decisions, adding that those entrusted with public authority must account for their performance before seeking another mandate.

“Authority belongs to the people, and those entrusted with authority must return with an account of stewardship and a programme worthy of further trust,” he said.

The vice-president also commended the APC in Cross River for maintaining internal harmony, describing the state chapter as an example of unity, discipline, courage and political conviction.

He recalled that when the Tinubu administration assumed office in 2023, it recognised the need to improve Cross River’s economic and infrastructure potential by opening the state to greater investment and opportunities.

He identified the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as a major project designed to connect coastal communities, improve the movement of people and goods, expand tourism, attract investors and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs.

Shettima expressed optimism that Cross River would become a major beneficiary of the administration’s infrastructure and economic development agenda.

Earlier, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, urged residents of Cross River to support the party’s candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Yilwatda described Tinubu as a change agent deserving of another term, citing projects including the consolidation of the deep seaport project, the resuscitation of Calabar Port and the Trans-Sahara Super Highway.

He said the projects provided reasons for Nigerians to support the APC in the 2027 presidential election.

Cross River Governor Bassey Otu also praised Tinubu’s leadership, particularly his handling of the country’s economic challenges and commitment to sustainable development.

Otu highlighted the President’s policies in agriculture, education, industry and security, assuring that Cross River residents would support his re-election.

Similarly, the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, described Tinubu’s performance as commendable and said he deserved a second term.

Yari also dismissed claims that northern Nigeria would not support Tinubu’s re-election bid.
