Tinubu Umrah trip to Makkah, Saudi Arabia, begins Thursday, with the President expected to return to Nigeria next week.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah, an Islamic spiritual pilgrimage to the holy city. The Tinubu Umrah trip is expected to last until next week.

A statement issued on Wednesday, October 28, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, said the visit would provide an opportunity for “spiritual reflection, devotion, and prayers” as the President undertakes the religious exercise.

According to the statement, Tinubu will perform the religious rites associated with Umrah in Makkah. Umrah is an Islamic pilgrimage that can be undertaken at any time of the year, unlike the annual Hajj.

Before departing Abuja, the President is scheduled to commission equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force to support its operations. The ceremony will take place at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The statement confirmed that the President is expected back in Nigeria next week after completing the spiritual exercise, although it did not specify a date for his return.

The Tinubu Umrah visit follows the President’s scheduled engagement with the Nigerian Air Force equipment commissioning before his departure for Saudi Arabia.
