Enugu West Senator Osita Ngwu flags off the Agolo–Efulu–Aguabosi–Ugwuoba Road project in Oji River, promising asphalt on the first phase before December 2026.
Senator Osita Ngwu, representing Enugu West Senatorial District, has flagged off the construction of the Agolo–Efulu–Aguabosi–Ugwuoba Road in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State, promising that the first phase will be asphalted before December 2026.
Ngwu performed the flag-off on Monday, October 19, assuring residents that the contractor would remain on site until the first phase of the project was completed.
The senator said the road project was part of his commitment to improving infrastructure, stimulating economic activities and enhancing the welfare of his constituents.
He cautioned the contractor against abandoning the project over claims of inadequate funding, stressing the need for timely execution and quality delivery.
“The APC-led government has brought this road project to Ugwuoba, and I assure you that asphalt will be laid on the road before December 2026,” he said.
Ngwu noted that the road was opened in 1972, expressing optimism that its reconstruction would improve connectivity and ease the movement of people, goods and services across the benefiting communities.
He urged residents to remain patient, noting that meaningful development required time and sustained commitment.
The lawmaker also commended Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, for his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and the transformation of the state.
According to him, the road project aligns with the governor’s vision of delivering infrastructure that improves residents’ quality of life.
Ngwu reaffirmed his commitment to attracting more people-oriented projects to Enugu West Senatorial District to stimulate economic growth and improve living standards.
He also urged residents to continue supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying political continuity would help consolidate ongoing development projects.
The member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, Anayo Onwuegbu, alongside government officials and political stakeholders, attended the flag-off ceremony.
Former Oji River Council Chairman, Harrison Okeke, commended the senator for the initiative, describing roads in the area as being in a deplorable condition.
Okeke expressed optimism that the reconstruction would improve access to the communities and create better opportunities for movement and economic activities.
