Police in Katsina State have arrested a 27-year-old man, Sada Tambai, over the alleged killing of his 80-year-old father, Adamu Tambai, in Mundadu Village, Bindawa LGA.
KATSINA — The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Sada Tambai, over the alleged killing of his 80-year-old father, Adamu Tambai, in Bindawa Local Government Area of the state.
The police disclosed the arrest in a statement issued on Saturday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on September 21, 2026, at Mundadu Village in Bindawa LGA.
The police said they received a distress call from the District Head of Bindawa, Dan Yusufan Katsina, reporting that Adamu Tambai, a former Ward Head of Mundadu, had been found lying motionless outside his residence.
Following the report, detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, while the elderly man was rushed to the nearest hospital for medical attention.
However, the attending medical doctor pronounced him dead upon arrival at the hospital.
The police spokesperson said preliminary investigations led to the arrest of the deceased’s son, Sada Tambai, who allegedly confessed during interrogation to hitting his father on the head with a stick.
According to the police, the injuries sustained in the alleged attack resulted in the victim’s death.
The Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, Ali Umar-Fage, subsequently ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
The command said the directive was intended to ensure a discreet and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
It added that the suspect would be arraigned before a court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The police also expressed condolences to the bereaved family and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that justice is served in accordance with the law.
