INEC has fixed September 19, 2026, for five crucial by-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states, covering one federal and four state constituencies.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, September 19, 2026, for the conduct of five by-elections across four states: Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano.
The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Mr Tunde Oketola, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja, saying the by-elections would cover one federal constituency and four state constituencies.
According to Oketola, the federal constituency by-election will take place in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State.
The four state constituency by-elections will hold in Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi State, Udu State Constituency in Delta State, and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State.
INEC’s official upcoming elections schedule also lists all five by-elections for September 19, 2026.
The elections are expected to fill vacant legislative seats in the affected constituencies, with eligible voters given the opportunity to elect new representatives.
The September 19 polls will come months ahead of the 2027 general elections, which INEC has scheduled for January 16, 2027, for the presidential and National Assembly elections, and February 6, 2027, for the governorship and state House of Assembly elections.
