Abuja-based TikToker Faruk Mohammed has been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged cyberbullying of Defence Minister Christopher Musa and remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre pending a bail hearing.

An Abuja-based content creator, Faruk Mohammed, has been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations of cyberbullying Defence Minister, retired Gen. Christopher Musa.

Mohammed was brought before Justice Obiora Egwuatu on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, after the Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) filed a charge against him.

The TikToker was accused of making statements on his TikTok account between June 19 and July 17 concerning the conduct of Nigeria’s military leadership in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

According to the prosecution, Mohammed allegedly claimed that Nigerian troops deployed to the frontline died because the Defence Minister and serving defence chiefs failed to take appropriate action.

He was also accused of alleging that the Defence Minister’s Legal Adviser, Aliyu Anas, misled Musa in an attempt to have him removed from office by the Presidency.

Mohammed pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Following the plea, the Prosecution Counsel, Fidelis Isong, urged the court to fix a date for the commencement of trial.

Defence Counsel Abdulkadir Ahmed, however, told the court that a pending bail application had not yet been served on the prosecution.

Justice Egwuatu subsequently adjourned the matter until September 9, 2026, for hearing of the bail application.

The judge also ordered that Mohammed be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing and determination of his bail application.

The case adds to ongoing legal scrutiny of social media publications involving public officials and national security matters in Nigeria, particularly where authorities allege that online statements cross the threshold from criticism into criminal conduct.

Mohammed remains presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by the court.
